New Trailer Announces 'Sonic Dream Team'

Just off the heels of their latest game, Sonic Superstars, a new game for the blue blur has been announced, this time with a modern flair! Sonic Dream Team is a new fully 3D Sonic game developed by SEGA Hardlight that harkens back to the gameplay of the Sonic Adventure series. Sonic Dream Team’s plot focuses on Sonic and his friends jumping into a bizarre world of dreams as they face off against Dr. Eggman, who has discovered a device that can make dreams into reality called The Reverie. The game features Sonic as the main playable character in addition to Miles “Tails” Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, Amy Rose, Rouge the Bat, and Cream the Rabbit.

The game appears to feature original levels inspired by the franchise’s past including boss battles that may remind hardcore Sonic fans of the ill-fated canceled Sonic game for the SEGA Saturn, Sonic Xtreme. This game, however, comes with a catch. It will be exclusive to the Apple Arcade platform, and there are currently no plans to bring it to any other device. The reason for this decision is apparently due to Apple being involved in funding the production of the game. Regardless, it looks like a refreshing new take on the franchise that harkens back to the days of the 3D titles being fully 3D rather than a mix of 2D and 3D. Sonic Dream Team will speed onto iOS devices exclusively on December 5th of this year.
