New 'Tomb Raider' Series Announced For Amazon Prime From Phoebe Waller-Bridge
Hollywood’s video adaptations continue as Prime Video announces a Tomb Raider series helmed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Jen Salk, the head of Amazon and MGM Studios announced at the company’s Upfront event in New York “Phoebe has a lifelong love affair with Lara Croft, and as soon and very soon we’ll start the worldwide search for who will play this iconic role and I just can’t wait,” Salk said.
Known for her exceptional storytelling from Fleabag, Waller-Bridge is set to write the series and take on the role of an executive producer, adding her unique touch to the project. Although she did not attend the event, she said, “If I could tell my teenage self this was happening, I think she’d explode…Laura Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all.”

Waller-Bridge will be an executive producer alongside Jenny Robbins under her company, Wells Street Productions. Amanda Greenblatt and Ryan Andolina from their Star Party company will be consulting producers for the series.
Amazon Games announced a collaboration with Crystal Dynamics to develop multiplatform Tomb Raider video games. Scot Amos said at the time of the announcement: “Amazon MGM Studios and Amazon Games are incredible collaborators with a massive reach across the globe, enabling us to expand our Tomb Raider franchise with multiple new adventures and a shared passion for creating impactful, entertaining, emotional experiences for players and viewers throughout every facet of this universe.”
