It’s not just the Marvel universe that keeps expanding. The same applies to the DC universe, as well. After the release of The Batman and The Penguin, news of another spin-off series with Matt Reeves at the helm might bring the opportunity for more material and to welcome new fans. What is announcing another spin-off series quenching the thirsts of eager DC fans is how the new spin-off is how it will directly correlate to the upcoming The Batman sequel.

According to The Penguin showrunner Lauren LeFranc, “We are the bridge between the two films ….We’re going almost directly into the second film Matt [Reeves] has planned.” With a series focused on one of Batman’s oldest yet lesser-used foes, it is up to DC fans to put in the extra work to see how Penguin receiving the spotlight will highlight his genius intellect, ingenuity, and animosity toward the Wayne family and Batman. Penguin is one of the few villains within Batman’s universe harboring pure disdain toward Batman while also festering in hatred over Bruce.

Villains taking center stage and shaping their narratives concerning the traditional hero of the story is nothing new, but DC’s venture with The Penguin will have an audience eager to drink in this new spin-off on September 8th, 2024. Given the favorable reception of Matt Reeve’s The Batman and Robert Pattison donning the famed cowl, the next Oz Cobb (aka the Penguin) is set to become another great portrayal with a great umbrella by his side.
