New J.R.R. Tolkien Book Of Collected Poems Coming This Fall
J.R.R. Tolkien has sadly been gone from this world for nearly 50 years now, but the work he began back in the first half of the 20th century continues to live on and has influenced the literary field for generations. Few authors have the sort of adoration that Tolkien and his legacy have that has led to the intense scrutiny of his life. Just recently, a revised and expanded edition of his letters was published in November 2023.
Now, more of the works of J.R.R. Tolkien will arrive this fall on bookshelves. Harper Collins recently announced that The Collected Poems of J.R.R. Tolkien will be released this September 12.

The press release states the book is over 1,500 pages long. It’s a massive collection, which they stressed as well, pointing out that this is not a “complete” edition. Harper Collins cited economies of production, and since it’s already so long, it makes sense as to why that was the choice they made.
The press release also stated that they had to be selective and decided not to include all 100, and more, poems from the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. They instead went with a representative sample of those, and the other poems they selected show different versions to illustrate how they evolved and changed. It was also pointed out that 77 of the poems have never been published in any format before, or only a few lines have appeared elsewhere before this publication.
Each poem will come with the stories about them, and any analysis of them as well, to show how much work and thought went into each of them by the prolific Tolkien over his 81 years.
Look for The Collected Poems of J.R.R. Tolkien this fall, a worthy addition to any collector and fan’s shelves.
