New Image Of Ncuti Gatwa As The Doctor In ‘Doctor Who’

In May 2022, it was announced that actress Jodie Whittaker, the first female lead appearing in Doctor Who would be hanging up her Sonic Screwdriver and that actor Ncuti Gatwa would take over as the long-running series’15th Doctor. Joining Gatwa as his travel companion will be Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday. Gatwa, who is best known for the Netflix series, Sex Education, will be the first black actor to assume the role of the iconic alien Timelord. Gatwa was very excited about the announcement:

“There aren’t quite the words to describe how I’m feeling. A mix of deeply honoured, beyond excited and of course a little bit scared,” Gatwa said in a BBC press release. “This role and show means so much to so many around the world, including myself, and each one of my incredibly talented predecessors has handled that unique responsibility and privilege with the utmost care. I will endeavour my utmost to do the same.”

The new season, which kicks off with a special Doctor Who 60th Anniversary episode, will premiere on November 23, 2023. With the latest season due to premiere later this year, the first image of Ncuti Gatwa as The Doctor has been released:
