New Daredevil Comic Series Sees Matt Murdock And Elektra Natchios As Dual Daredevils

July will be an interesting month for Marvel power couples, to say the least. Not only will Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman share the God of Thunder title with the premiere of Thor: Love and Thunder, but on the Marvel comics end, Matt Murdock and Elektra Natchios will officially be sharing the title of Daredevil with the premiere of Daredevil #1

Created by the Eisner-nominated duo of writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Marco Chechetto, Daredevil #1 will take place immediately after the Devil’s Reign story arc, and will feature the two on-again-off-again lovers, Matt and Elektra, sharing the title of Daredevil. The series will also connect with some of Zdarsky’s earliest works in the series, effectively bridging the writer’s work on the series from beginning to present.

Daredevil #1 will be an intriguing look at how each Daredevil handles the return of their oldest enemy, and how their subsequent actions will affect both Hell’s Kitchen, along with the extended Marvel Universe. The series promises to focus on how each character approaches the role of Daredevil differently. As Elektra’s Daredevil: Woman Without Fear run, saw the heroine as more of a ninja operating in the shadows, in comparison to Matt’s more aggressive, boxer-brawler-styled approach to fighting.

The couple will also be dealing with a slew of charges in NYC. Luke Cage is now mayor. The Kingpin has officially left New York to go in hiding, guilty of the crime of the believed murder of Matt Murdock. Likewise, with Matt now free of his past life, he and Elektra pursue one of their oldest enemies, revealed in the Devil’s Reign arc as The Hand, which is now being led by The Punisher.

“DAREDEVIL is my magnum opus,” admitted Zdarsky in an interview with CBR. “To get the chance to tell such a long story over years at Marvel with the same primary artist is a gift. Marco and I are over the moon with how readers have supported our book, and we promise you that we're giving it our all and building to something that we think is really special.”

To promote this upcoming run, two promotional art pieces by artist Paulo Siqueira are being released. In it, readers can see the Avengers along with The Hand, now being led by The Punisher. Siqueira’s promotional artwork will also be featured as variant covers for Daredevil #3 and Daredevil #4

Daredevil #1 will hit stores on July 13th.
