New 'Alien' Movie Has Wrapped Filming
Amid a summer of blockbuster releases, hype is growing for the latest addition to the Alien franchise. The new film with Alien: Romulus as its working title wrapped filming a few days ago. Director Fede Alverez shared a black and white picture to his Instagram page of him enjoying a cigar outside his trailer with the caption, “Time for a celebratory cigar, it’s a wrap!”
The wrapping of the film comes just in time as members of SAG-AFTRA are gearing up for a potential strike. Ridley Scott returns to the franchise as producer of the new film, while Cailee Spany plays the starring role. Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu fill out the rest of the main cast. While no plot details have been revealed, Alvarez teamed up with Rodo Sayagues to pen the script. The movie was originally scheduled to release on Disney+ and Hulu but now has plans for a cinema release on August 16, 2024. Another Alien project, a TV series set on Earth, is being developed by FX. While waiting for the latest installment, fans can revisit their favorite films on the Starz channel in the US and Disney+ in other countries.
