Fans of Netflix’s 1899 are outraged and taking to social media to voice their frustration and anger with the streaming service. The show’s co-creators and showrunners Baran boo Odar and Jantje Friese announced through an Instagram post on Monday that the show had been canceled after just one season.

After the announcement, fans rushed to social media to demand that Netflix save the show and to search for answers as to why it was canceled in the first place. A #Save1899 Twitter account gained 27,400 followers in 24 hours, and a change.org petition reached 20,000 signatures within a few hours of the announcement. The petition currently has more than 44,000 signatures, and the number is rising every second. Since the show's November release, it has received critical acclaim across the globe, leaving fans even more confused about why the show was canceled.
