Harrison Ford Injured During ‘Indiana Jones 5’ Production

Harrison Ford injured himself during filming again for the first time in a while. This time he got hurt on the set of Indiana Jones 5 in the United Kingdom while rehearsing a fight scene, according to Deadline in an exclusive report from this week. The extent of the injury is unknown, but it appears to be a shoulder injury. Production will continue with director James Mangold (Logan, Ford v Ferrari) taking charge of filming around the situation. The filming schedule will be modified in the weeks to come. Not much details of his treatment has been released.

This treatment will come in addition to an already rigorous workout regime. To stay in shape for the current flick, Ford has been cycling up to 40 miles a day, walking frequently, and eating plenty of supplement bars, The Mirror reported. He fits this into a packed schedule of 11-hour nighttime film shoots with just six hours for sleep.

Disney recently releases a statement about the situation:

“In the course of rehearsing for a fight scene, Harrison Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder. Production will continue while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated, and the filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks.”

The production for the untitled fifth Indy film started a couple weeks ago at Pinewood and other U.K. locations. Also co-starring in Indiana Jones 5 are Mads Mikkelsen, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, and Thomas Kretschmann.

This is not the first injury Ford suffered in the recent years. In 2014 he broke his leg in a freak accident involving the hydraulic door of the Millennium Falcon set during the filming of Star Wars: The Force Awakens where he reprised the role of .Han Solo. I really do hope this injury is just a setback for Ford. He is still very healthy and physically active, not something we see every day in a 78-year-old.
