'Mortal Kombat 1' Revealed In New Trailer, Game Due Out September 19
Guts and gore galore, the first trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 is here! Picking up after the conclusion of the Mortal Kombat Aftermath expansion, the timeline has been reset but familiar foes remain. This time, the realms must defend themselves with the aid of Fire God Liu Kang.
The trailer reveals familiar faces such as Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kitana, and Mileena, though a new threat awaits them. As several rivalries begin to clash, the sun is blocked out and a portal opens. Stepping out of the portal is Shang Tsung who greets Fire God Liu Kang as well as Kung Lao and a newly mortal Raiden. While Liu Kang quickly finishes the sorcerer, it's clear that he is just the beginning.

The new Mortal Kombat game is set to introduce a new gameplay mechanic of Kameo Fighters that are on a separate roster from the main roster. How this will work is yet to be seen. No gameplay footage was shown, but, purely out of speculation, it could work similarly to the assist mechanic used in Aftermath.
Pre-orders for the game open on May 19th in 3 tiers, Standard, Premium, and Kollector's Edition. The Standard Edition is priced at $69.99 and includes Shang Tsung as a bonus character. The Premium Edition is priced at $109.99 and includes Shang Tsung, the Kombat Pack, early access to the game on September 14th, 1,250 of the in-game currency Dragon Krystals, character skins, and 5 extra Kameo Fighters. The Kollector's Edition (exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S) is priced at $249.99 includes all of the previously mentioned perks along with a Liu Kang statue, and exclusive in-game Liu Kang skin, art prints, and additional Dragon Krystals.
Mortal Kombat 1 will be available for PlayStation, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 19th, 2023.
