Marvel Comics Teases Out The Death Of Ms. Marvel In Upcoming 'Spider-Man' Issue
Alright comic book fans, it may be time to break out the tissues. Marvel’s official Spider-Man account tweeted recently teasing fans that Ms. Marvel made a “heroic sacrifice no one expected.” Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Ms. Marvel aka Kamala Khan will die tragically in The Amazing Spider-Man #26 coming out this month. Leading up to this news, Marvel has been dropping hints here and there like breadcrumbs leading fans to this sad announcement. Marvel wants fans to know, however, that this superhero’s death has not been taken lightly and a special issue in tribute to her will hit comic bookstores in July.
Ms. Marvel has been instrumental in The Amazing Spider-Man storyline with the titular character growing deeply attached to her. In the latest installment of the series, Kamala goes undercover at Oscorp to investigate Norman Osborn’s alleged rehabilitation. Green Goblin may be up to his old antics once again. Sadly, everyone’s favorite neighborhood Spider-Man is no stranger to the concept of tragic loss – depending on the timeline one speaks of, fans have seen Peter Parker himself die allowing Miles Morales to protect the neighborhood. Fans have also witnessed him lose Uncle Ben, Aunt May, and Gwen Stacey. The expected July issue will likely include an understandably distraught Spider-Man as he copes with yet another significant loss.

Entertainment Weekly notes that it may seem out of place for this character’s fall as fans have recently enjoyed Ms. Marvel on the small screen just last year as a Disney+ limited series and are highly anticipating seeing her on the big screen later this year in the film The Marvels. It is noteworthy that Marvel has made these types of choices in the past as Dr. Strange met his demise similarly also ahead of a motion picture release – Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Stay tuned for the July 12 issue, titled Fallen Friend: The Death of Ms. Marvel available in comic bookstores. This tribute issue will demonstrate Ms. Marvel’s impact as a hero while also allowing the other superheroes of the MCU whose lives she touched to mourn for her and cope with their loss.
