Mike Flanagan’s name has become synonymous with horror in the last few years, and more recently, he has been tied to multiple Stephen King projects, including 2019’s sequel to The Shining, Doctor Sleep, 2017’s Gerald’s Game, the upcoming Life of Chuck, and possibly an adaptation of The Dark Tower. It has been confirmed by Deadline that Flanagan and King are working on a series adaptation of King’s 1974 novel, Carrie. The series is expected to be eight episodes long and will be released on Amazon Prime Video, which is where King and Flanagan are currently in talks to bring The Dark Tower adaptation.

The series will feature Flanagan as showrunner, and he will executive produce the project alongside Trevor Macy. There is no word on casting or an expected release date, but they are opening up a writer’s room, which means that this project is moving quickly. King’s work has been getting a lot of attention lately, with the remake of Salem’s Lot hitting Max earlier this month and A24 working to adapt his 2022 novel Fairy Tale into a series after it failed to be worked into a film due to its extensive story.

You can rent the original 1976 adaptation of Carrie and the 2013 remake on Amazon Prime Video.
