HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon was one of 2022’s most popular new series. Each week, social media would be flooded with talk about the series, but since its phenomenal and jaw-dropping Season 1 finale back in October, there has been little news about the second season, until now! During a March 4th panel at Middle East Film & Comic Con, Matt Smith, aka. Daemon Targaryen, revealed that he just received the scripts for Season 2 and that filming is set to begin next month:

“... starting April. I got all the scripts on Friday, they’re late, really late.”

According to the actor, he couldn’t reveal anything more because he hadn’t read to the end yet.

House of the Dragon is set roughly two centuries prior to the events of Game of Thrones and follows the fall of House Targaryen as they speed towards the Dance of the Dragons, which was a war mentioned in Game of Thrones. The first season sped through decades of time with its 10-episode run telling the story of Princess Rhaenyra and her father, King Viserys.

The show was a massive hit among both fans and critics with each episode garnering more than an 8-star rating on IMDb. The series was nominated for countless awards and would take home the Golden Globe for Best Television Series- Drama

Both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon are available to stream on HBO Max
