Marvel Will Release Jeph Loeb And Tim Sale's 'Spider-Man: Blue' As A Special Gallery Edition Hardcover
Next summer, Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s acclaimed Spider-Man limited series Spider-Man: Blue will be the next to receive Marvel Comics’ oversized gallery treatment. Sale died in June from kidney failure, and this is the company’s way of honoring and celebrating him and all the work he had done over the years.
Spider-Man: Blue, was one of the installments in Loeb and Sale’s acclaimed “Color Series”, which also encompasses Daredevil: Yellow, Hulk: Gray, and Captain America: White. It was originally published over six issues from October 2002 until April 2003. In a Valentine’s Day story, Peter Parker is well into his marriage to Mary Jane Watson, but still has trouble coping with Gwen Stacy’s death, and begins reminiscing over those early days, those formative years as a superhero. The press release calls it a “modern Marvel masterpiece” perfect for new comic readers but also a necessity for veteran Spider-Man fans.

The limited series had previously been collected in January 2009, and omnibuses with its Color Series brethren in August 2014 and December 2018, with and without Captain America: White, respectively. The Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale: Spider-Man Gallery Edition Hardcover is set to release in July 2023, and a special Direct Market-exclusive variant cover should be announced soon.
