The film’s May 2, 2025, premiere date falls between Captain America: Brave New World and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Earlier this week, Marvel officially released the Thunderbolts* movie poster and a teaser trailer, which is almost double the length of the current teaser for Brave New World

The Thunderbolts* main cast reprising their roles from other MCU projects include Florence Pugh (Black Widow/Yelena Belova), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent/John Walker), Olga Kurylenko (Taskmaster), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Valentina Allegra de Fontaine). Lewis Pullman stars in Thunderbolts* in a new role. He is referred to as Bob in the trailer, which has everyone assuming he’s Bob Reynolds, the superhero Sentry. Additionally, Geraldine Viswanathan is making her MCU gradebut. Referred to as Mel in the teaser, Viswanathan is rumored to be playing Melissa Gold (Songbird), though she could be working for Valentina instead. Members of the MCU expected to have minor appearances are Bill Foster, played by Laurence Fishburne in Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Melina Vostokoff, played by Rachel Weisz in Black Widow. Harrison Ford may appear in Thunderbolts* in his new role as Thaddeus Ross, but there’s currently conflicting information about his involvement.

The Thunderbolts* trailer seems to be pulling quite a bit from the comic storyline Thunderbolts from December 2023 written by Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing. Characters featured in this series include Bucky, Red Guardian, U.S. Agent, Yelena, and Valentina, as seen in the film’s teaser, but also Sharon Carter, Shang-Chi, Red Skull, Kingpin, and Doctor Doom. Stay tuned to see if any of those characters are involved with Thunderbolts*.
