Marvel Released The First Trailer For 'Secret Invasion' At D23 Expo

A grizzly Nick Fury returns with a vengeance in the trailer for the new Marvel series Secret Invasion. The story is set to loosely follow the plot of the famous comic book storyline where the Skrulls infiltrate Earth and replace its citizens and heroes.
The Skrulls were first introduced in the 2019 movie Captain Marvel. The alien species are shapeshifters who can mimic anyone (and also their recent memories) they see. The Skrulls add a fun and dangerous level of confusion, as the fans (and heroes) will not be able to tell immediately who is who. This was extremely evident in the movie Spider-Man: Far From Home when it was revealed that Nick Fury (and Maria Hill) were Skrulls for the entire duration of the film. During the brief trailer, Nick Fury is shown to have kept his distance from Earth for some time but returns because as he puts it “this is different.”
The brief trailer features appearances from Ben Mendelsohn (Talos), Cobie Smulders (Agent Maria Hill), Don Cheadle (Rhodes/War Machine), and newcomer Emilia Clarke of Game of Thrones. The show will be directed by Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim and be released in 2023. The six parts series will also lead directly into Armor Wars.
