Marvel Celebrates 85 Years In New Trailer
85 years ago, in 1939, what is now known as Marvel Comics was born. In celebration of the milestone, Marvel Studios and Disney have released a new 85-year trailer. The 2 minute and 40 second video opens with a kid asking Stan Lee who his favorite character is. Stan Lee responds, “Aw, gee. You know, that’s almost like asking a parent who’s his favorite child. I think I love them all.” He says, “In the comic books and in the movies, story is always the most important element.” Towards the end of the video, he says, “I’ve always tried to do stories that the characters have human qualities anybody can relate to.”
Martin Goodman started Marvel. He called the company Timely Comics. It later became Atlas Comics. Finally, in 1961, they settled on the name Marvel. The three most famous creators behind Marvel Comics were Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko. Together, they created The Avengers, The Fantastic Four, X-Men, Spider-Man, and others. The video shows everything from classic comic book covers to the most recent MCU footage. The trailer ostensibly ends with Stan Lee saying, Excelsior!” However, just before it fades to black, there is Red Hulk, from the upcoming Captain America 4, roaring. Marvel has become famous for its after-credit scenes, so it was only natural to include on in the celebratory trailer.
