Marvel Announces New 'Voices: Comunidades' Collection Trailer Online
Marvel released a new trailer for their upcoming comic series “Voices: Comunidades” (communities in Spanish) this week. These comics will focus on a new generation of young Latin American heroes throughout the Marvel Universe and their impact. This is a way for Marvel to celebrate the Latinx community as a whole, no longer marginalizing them.
A few heroes have already been confirmed by the trailer as being part of the series. Nova, Miles Morales, White Tiger, Chimera (new character), Shark-girl, America Chavez, and a bunch of others will be featured during the series as well. The trailer also shed some light on who are the writers behind those heroes. Essentially two writers/artists were assigned to each hero with the intent of creating a solid arc for them. Writers like Fabian Nicieza, who worked on titles such as X-Men, Cable, Deadpool, and Thunderbolts were hired for this series, bringing in some serious experience for this project.
This could also be really beneficial for Marvel as a whole. Since his introduction to a wider public in both Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and the video game Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Miles stood out among the others. Developing his character, even more, could bring in more readers for Marvel’s comics. This could also be a good space for storytelling. Since there are fewer restrictions on time and usage of the character (different than the usual two-hour movie), the writers would have more freedom to create an interesting and compelling story for him. America Chavez has also been in the limelight in the past months because of her importance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Marvel, through this new series, is most likely capitalizing on these new, young heroes and the current generation’s interest in giving a voice to different groups in our society.
