The Star Wars universe continues to grow quickly. It seems for now, however, that the focus of Lucasfilm will be on TV shows with movies likely to be developed at a slower pace. In a small interview with Slash Film, Lucasfilm Vice President Lynwen Brennan talked about the future of the film side of the franchise.

"I think the wonderful thing about 'Star Wars' is it's a gigantic galaxy with thousands and thousands of years of history, so that's a big place to explore. Finding a way that we can explore those different parts, but in a way that's connected and doesn't feel overwhelming, and we don't overdo it — because I think 'Star Wars' is also special."

It’s an interesting statement but one that seems to show the direction that Star Wars seems to be taking at this time.

Lucasfilm seems to be taking its time when it comes to movies even though the Disney+ arena is charging forward at the moment. In many ways, Star Wars has moved away from being a film franchise as it heads into a new world. It’s an interesting direction to go in that for sure. Lucasfilm seems to want to make the movies a special event when compared to other franchises of the genre. As to what the future will hold, well, always in motion the future is.
