With the premiere date of the second season of The Bad Batch rapidly approaching, Lucasfilm and Disney+ have released a new teaser trailer called "Mission." Most of the footage in the 30-second video has already been featured in the official trailer, which was released a few weeks ago, but there are a few additional scenes in “Mission.”

The official trailer already teased the return of Gungi, the young Wookiee who first appeared in season 5 of The Clone Wars and gained the rank of Padawan before the fall of the Republic. He appeared to have survived the Jedi Purge and met up with Clone Force 99 at some point after the rise of the Empire.

The video now shows Gungi accompanying Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, Echo, and Omega to Kashyyyk, where they encounter three Wookiees riding on strange big-eared creatures.

Disney has also released character posters for Hunter and Omega. Similar posters will likely be released for the other main characters in the coming days and weeks, as Disney has done with most of their other Star Wars shows.

Season 2 of The Bad Batch is set several months after the end of the first season, which culminated in the destruction of Tipoca City on Kamino by the Imperial Navy. Stripped of their "home base," Hunter, his crew, and Omega are on the run not only from the Empire, which is tightening its grip around the galaxy, but also from their former comrade Crosshair, who remained loyal to the new regime.

The second season of The Batch Batch will kick off on January 4 with a double feature “Spoils of War” and “Ruins of War” followed by 14 additional episodes.
