Willow fans have waited 34 years to see the fantasy franchise return to the screen and are eagerly anticipating seeing the story extended as the new series comes to Disney+ on November 30, 2022. Ahead of its debut, Lucasfilm released a featurette allowing fans to meet the cast and crew.

The featurette is hosted by Anthony Carboni who sits in a room with props from the series, including Kit Tanthalos sword and Cherlindrea’s wand. Carboni talks with Writer/Executive Producer Jon Kasdan who is a huge fan of the original movie himself. Carboni also spoke to Michelle Rejwan, Executive Producer. Rejwan talks about the discoveries of the newcomers to the cast and describes them as being a perfect match to their characters as she discusses their comradery and chemistry both on and off screen.

Warwick Davis is reprising his role as Willow Ufgood. Davis described the experience of coming back, as “putting the wig and blue tunic on as surreal”. Joining Davis will be Dempsey Bryk and Ruby Cruz. They play twins Airk and Kit Tanthalos. Cruz described Kit as a “bass-ass princess who is very honest” while Bryk describes Airk as “loving to have a good time and romantic”. Fans will likely be reminded of these “kids” parents; Sorsha and Madmartigan.

Amar Chadha-Patel plays Thraxus Boorman and Erin Kellyman portrays Jade Claymore. Demonstrating the chemistry between these actors that Rejwan mentioned, they describe each other’s character’s most notable traits. Kellyman describes Boorman as “a lovable rogue with a heart of gold” who uses comedy to distract from his feelings, and Chadha-Patel says that Jade is a “very dedicated soldier” loyal to the queen and determined to protect her charges. The featurette also includes actor Tony Revolori who plays Graydon Hastur, the ‘reluctant’ and Ellie Bamber as Dove the “kitchen maid who makes the best buttered muffins in town.”

Davis alluded to the adventure itself and the magic involved in this classic fantasy tale. Audiences will see the heroes navigate their adventure as well as the toll that using magic takes on those who wield it. When asked to describe this series in three words the actors unanimously chose “Fast, Freaky Fun.” Willow is streaming now on Disney+.
