Lisa Loring, The Original Wednesday Addams, Passed Away At Age 64
Actress Lisa Loring passed away on January 28, 2023. According to Laurie Jacobson, a family friend, Loring suffered a massive stroke triggered by high blood pressure and smoking. She was 64 years old.
Lisa Ann DeCinces was born on February 16, 1958, in the Marshall Islands. She would move with her mother to Los Angeles several years later. In 1961 she took on the name Loring and began her career as a child model, picking up an acting role here and there. Several years later in 1964, she was cast in her arguably most iconic role: Wednesday Addams in the series The Addams Family (1964-1966).
RELATED:
Following her role as the first live-action iteration of Wednesday Addams, Loring had a role in The Pruitts of Southampton (1966-1967). It was a short-lived sitcom produced by the same man who put on The Addams Family. The actress reprised her role as Wednesday in Halloween with the New Addams Family (1977), taking on the role of older sister Wednesday Sr. This marked a small resurgence in her acting career.
From here, she made several appearances in the soap opera As the World Turns (1980), as well as several movies including the slasher film Iced (1988). While her career began winding down after this point, she did appear in Way Down in Chinatown (2014) and Doctor Spine (2015). The actress will be remembered as an icon of horror and comedy for years to come.
Loring is survived by her two daughters, Vanessa and Marianne, as well as her grandchildren Emiliana and Charles. Our deepest condolences go out to her family and friends.
