Does This New Evidence Show 'Jedi: Fallen Order 2' Release Window?
The story of Cal Kestis finding his way to become a Jedi knight captivated audiences and surprised Star Wars fans with the immersive storytelling and fun gameplay back in 2019. The positive reception of Jedi: Fallen Order made it very clear that there would a continuation of the first game. Recently, we discovered that the title of the sequel will be Jedi: Survivor. The question that remains is when the next game in the series will drop. Both the publisher Electronic Arts and the developer Respawn have kept their mouths shut about any information regarding the new Star Wars game. Perhaps there will be an official announcement at the upcoming Star Wars Celebration. In the meantime, new information from Electronic Arts' title slate might have given us the answer.
Electronic Arts' quarterly earnings call suggests that we could potentially be playing as Cal Kestis sometime between January and March 2023. In a slide showcasing the Fiscal Year 2023, the fourth quarter (between January 1, 2023, and April 1, 2023) lists a “Major IP” to be released.

There is no other major IP that we know of so far to be released by EA anytime soon. This ignites the speculation that it refers to the long-awaited Star Wars title. Unless EA has a trick up their sleeve with a different unnamed project (according to Bespin Bulletin, some have theorized that it might be Josef Fares' Hazelight), it is reasonable to believe this major IP is pointing to Jedi: Survivor.
The claim made by video games journalist and insider Jeff Grubb on the release window for Jedi: Survivor also aligns with the EA’s title slate and might provide us a more precise guess for when exactly the game will drop. Grubb recently replied to a tweet that discussed which major third-party titles Microsoft would bring to Xbox GamesPass.
Jedi Survivor is February or March.

Grubb has also previously claimed that the reason behind EA bringing the sequel just to new generation consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox X/S) and PC is because the 2023 release date hinders supporting compatibility with the older PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Now that the story has moved from Cal's traumas after the Jedi purge, there is room for new adventures and a story that hits a different beat. The previous title had an atmosphere of rediscovering oneself for three of the characters. Cal and Cere recovered their connection to the Force, and Merrin made peace with the loss of her clan at the hands of General Grievous and the droid army. Cal also left the fate of the Force-sensitive children to the will of the Force, closing the possibility of Cal trying to reinstate the Jedi Order in the sequel. Perhaps the game will dare to tell a story that explores completely new lore with the secrets of Eno Cordova and his research on the Zeffo. Maybe stories from Legends on ancient species will come back to life in canon for the Zeffo. The developers can also go all-out for a different kind of narrative that goes so far as to explain the tragedy of the Zeffo as a way to rethink the Force beyond darkness and lightness.
Whatever the case, it seems that we will be experiencing the next chapter of Cal Kestis story in less than a year. While there are some doubts about whether the next game will still feature the same cast of characters we met in Jedi: Fallen Order, Bespin Bulletin claimed that we will in fact be playing as the young Jedi again. Hopefully we will learn more about Merrin who was barely introduced to us in the first game, and might have a stake in the story moving forward.
