“Allons-y!”—David Tennant reprises his role as the Tenth Doctor for the Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Special. According to the Youtube video that leaked, filming took place in Bristol on May 15th. In the footage, Tennant, dashingly dressed in The Doctor’s blue suit and Converse, runs into a scene looking panicked and holding his hands out to traffic. A jump cut shows Bristol’s streets swarmed by actor-pedestrians, a car crash, and some pyrotechnics.

Tiktok User @DrWho_Central also reposted a Tiktok of the BBC filming; an interesting part of the leaked video is Neil Patrick Harris, whose role has been kept under wraps. Harris is seen dancing around the chaos wearing a tailcoat, sunglasses, and top hat and holding a walking stick.

Theories around Harris’s role suggest that he will be playing the villain, but some fans have gone so far as to call him ‘The Toymaker’— also known as the Celestial Toymaker and villain who was previously played by Michael Gough in Doctor Who’s third series in 1966. On Twitter, one fan shared a photo of Harris and Gough in costume, explaining,

“[The Toymaker] had prior history with the Doctor before they even met in the original 1960s serial, not to mention his reality warping powers to throw trials and games feels suitably special.”

With the apron, tools, and the overall feel of Harris’s costume, it’s hard to deny the similarities. Unfortunately, we won’t know any definites in the special’s premiere, ending Jodie Whittaker’s time as the time-traveling hero in October 2022.
