Ken Penders Reveals A 15-Year-Old Behind The Scenes Photo Of 'Spider-Man 4'

When Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 was released, the reception was lukewarm at best.  Sony was pushing for a fourth movie to come out pretty quickly following that, as they had their own standards to meet.  Such a quick turnaround had Raimi dissatisfied; rather than rush it he stepped down and the rest is history.  A piece of that history was unearthed on Twitter by Ken Penders very recently.

The fourth installment of Raimi’s Spider-Man was slated to have a pretty good lineup. A classic Spider-Man villain, the Vulture, was meant to be in the film, rumored to be played by John Malkovich. With a limited production time, there were props and costumes already well on their way to completion. The Vulture’s wings are a particularly special prop since Raimi originally wanted the character in the third installment.

Penders shared an exclusive picture of the Vulture’s wings that was taken while visiting “friends who were working on the Vulture's costume.”  The wings look crisp and skeletal, a perfect mix of mechanics and simulated realism.  One can only imagine what they’d have looked like in action on the big screen.
