Johnny Depp Appears Ready To Make A Return To Film In 'Jeanne Du Barry'
The first official image of Johnny Depp as King Louis XV in the upcoming French movie Jeanne Du Barry was released on Wednesday by WhyNotProductions. Filming began in late July in France, including shooting at Versailles, and several other locations throughout Paris. French director Maïwenn also stars as the titular character.
Jeanne Du Barry tells the life of Jeanne Bécu, who rose through the Court of Louis XV to become his last official mistress. Born an illegitimate child to a seamstress, Bécu used her intelligence and drive to go from working-class woman to courtesan. Louis XV, the ruler of France from 1715-1774, was so ineffective during his rule that it led to the decline of the crown and ultimately, the French Revolution in the following years after his death.

While currently set for distribution through Netflix France, there is no word on if or when it will be distributed in the United States.
