James Gunn Takes To Twitter To Drop The Release Date And Trailer For 'The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special'

Guardian of the Galaxy fans, rejoice! The first trailer for the Holiday Special has finally been released. James Gunn took to Twitter today to reveal the first trailer for the "epilogue to Phase 4" that will be dropping on November 25th, 2022.

Peter Quill is still sad about losing Gamora to Thanos. So when Mantis and Drax find out about the holiday on Earth called “Christmas,” they decide to throw together a Christmas celebration to cheer up Peter. We see them go to Earth to get the ultimate Christmas gift for Peter: Kevin Bacon. Their kidnapping of Kevin Bacon doesn’t go as planned, and he tries his hardest to escape the two aliens. The trailer also shows glimpses of the Guardians partaking in Christmas traditions such as dancing, decorating, and exchanging gifts. Peter seems to enjoy it all, so it appears the Christmas celebration worked.

We will see familiar faces return as well, such as the other Guardians members like Nebula, Rocket, and an adult-looking Groot. Fans will also be introduced to Cosmo the Space Dog.

We most recently saw the Guardians at the beginning of Thor: Love and Thunder, which was released earlier this year, but this will be the first time in a while we get to see them in their own special. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 is still a long way away, so the special will keep fans satiated.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special premieres November 25th, 2022, on Disney+.
