James Gunn Responds On Twitter To Worries About The DCU's Future
A prolonged trend of issues has been coming from the newly-created DC Studios, making fans concerned about what’s to come in the future. Back in August, Batgirl was completely scrapped after the movie was recorded. Most recently, the third installment of Wonder Woman has reportedly been canceled. James Gunn, one of the heads of the studio, addressed this report and fan concerns in a thread on Twitter.
Gunn reports that some of the information that has surfaced is “true, some of it is half-true, some of it is not true, & some of it we haven’t decided yet whether it’s true or not.” He describes this time as an “unavoidable transitional period” while they “move into telling a cohesive story.”

Is there a cost-benefit presence in this situation? Gunn asserts one, stating that “drawbacks of that transitional period were dwarfed by the creative possibilities.”
Gunn wants the fans to trust the process, essentially. He reasserts the studio’s devotion to the material in the following statement: “We know we are not going to make every single person happy every step of the way, but we can promise everything we do is done in the service of the story & in the service of the DC characters we know you cherish and we have cherished our whole lives.”
This is all we get to know as of now; more information may come in the future, but patience is a must in the meantime. This response was intentionally vague, but the branch of transparency presented is refreshing in an age of radio silence trends and avoidance. You can see the original thread below, or click here.
