James Gunn Clarifies That A New Superman Has Yet To Be Cast Despite Rumors
With numerous rumors and speculative articles on who the next Superman could be, James Gunn, appointed Co-Chair/CEO alongside Peter Safran has been cleverly using Twitter to reach out to audiences and went about dispelling the current rumor.
Gunn has been attentive to DC Twitter fans lately, having previously answered some questions and going on to reassure fans earlier last month that the new young Superman is being considered a huge priority.

However, many can see that Gunn’s hands are full with the last bit of production magic for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 which is due to release on May 5th, 2023 in addition to the 10-year plan he’s been developing with Safran full of projects meant to revive DC’s popularity, and the restructuring at DC Studios. Due to that current workload, all fans can do now is wait for him to post more teaser information about whatever he sees fit to divulge.
Many were still sad to hear that Henry Cavill will not be returning as Superman in the upcoming movie specifically due to the movie’s time period, to which James Gunn did tweet shortly after the news broke that they (He, Safran and Henry Cavill) “talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future.” These words should be enough to get fans excited for the possible roles Cavill may be next offered by DC.
