The hit Dark Horse Comics/YouNeek Studios graphic novel series, Iyanu: Child of Wonder, and the inspiration for the upcoming Cartoon Network/Max animated series of the same name, will soon be getting a Library Edition. The oversized Library Edition will compile Volumes 1 and 2 of the series. The synopsis of the award-winning series, created by Roye Okupe and illustrated by Godwin Akpan (Volume 1) and Chima Kalu (Volume 2) is as follows:
Iyanu, a teenage orphan with no recollection of her past, suddenly discovers that she has abilities that rival the ancient deities told of in the folklore of her people. These abilities are the key to bringing back an “age of wonders,” as Iyanu begins her journey to save a world on the brink of destruction. The Corrupt—cursed wildlife and strange, divine beasts—will destroy humanity unless Iyanu can stop them. A timeless fantasy quest inspired by Yoruba culture and myths—from the best Nigerian comics talent!
Iyanu: Child of Wonder Library Edition Volume 1 will be available in comic book stores and other bookstores on August 19th and 20th later this year. It can be pre-ordered through Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and TFAW (Things from Another World). The animated series adaptation is currently in post-production and is expected to start streaming on Max later this year.
