Idris Elba To Return As Knuckles Alongside Kid Cudi In New Paramount+ Series
It seems as if the Sonic the Hedgehog series has come as a surprise hit. After a disastrous first trailer, the first movie ended up doing well, as did its sequel, and now a spin-off series is on the way. Knuckles, based on the titular character who first appeared in Sonic The Hedgehog 2 will be getting a spin-off series, with Idris Elba remaining in the lead role.
Other cast members confirmed to appear in the series include Edi Patterson, Julian Barret, Scott Mescudi, Ellie Taylor, Adam Pally, Rory McCann, and Tika Sumpter. The series is set to take place between the recently released Sonic The Hedgehog 2, and the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog 3, which is currently scheduled to be released on December 20, 2024. Knuckles will be able how the titular character trains his protégé, Wade.

In addition to playing the lead role, Elba will also be an executive producer, alongside Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, John Whittington and Toru Nakahara, who will also be directing. Other directors for the series will include Jeff Fowler, who directed the two released movies, as well as Ged Wright, Brandon Trost, Jorma Taccone, and Carol Banker.
The series was first announced on February 15, 2022. The two existing Sonic The Hedgehog movies have combined for a total of over $405 million in international box office revenue.
