Hulu Lays Out The Red Carpet For ‘King Of The Hill’ Revival With Most Of The Original Cast Set To Return
Hulu has confirmed that the hit animated comedy series King of the Hill, which first aired on Fox from 1997 to 2010, is coming back. The streaming service also confirmed that the original co-creators will return for the show’s re-run, along with Saladin Patterson as executive producer and showrunner. This is a confirmation of an old piece of news that pointed out Judge and Daniels’ intention of getting the cast back together. This has been in talks since 2017, when the show celebrated, with its actors, the 20th anniversary of the premiere.
According to Deadline, most of the cast will reprise their roles. Mike Judge, one of the show’s creators, continues as Hank Hill, just like Kathy Najimy, who plays his wife, Peggy Hill. In addition, Pamela Adlon (Bobby Hill), Johnny Hardwick (Dale Gribble), Stephen Root (Bill Dauterive), and Lauren Tom (Minh) will be part of this new version of the animated series. The characters will not be the same age, though. In an interview with Collider, Daniels said that Hank Hill and Co. will be aged up: “The idea is a time jump, yeah, so the characters are a bit older.” This breaks with the animation tendency of having the characters be the same age even though sometimes decades have passed in the real world.

Besides the cast and creators, the higher-ups from Fox and Disney are excited about the return of King of the Hill. Deadline highlights the comment of Marci Proietto, 20th Television Animation executive vice-president. Proeitto says that
“I’m so lucky to have been a part of this show from the very beginning and couldn’t be more excited to visit Arlen, Texas, once again with Mike, Greg and Saladin, who together are bringing a whole new perspective to the original series (...) We all want to thank the fans for their overwhelming support because they helped make this happen, and I can’t wait to share this new iteration through the lens of 2023 America. In the words of our beloved Peggy Hill, Ho yeah!”
There is no date for the premiere of this new version of King of the Hill yet, but Hulu has ordered 20 episodes for the re-run of the animated series.
