'Harry Potter: Wizards Of Baking' Lands On Prime Video In U.K., Food Network In U.S. Amid Contract Controversy
The release date for the upcoming food-based competition series Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking is rapidly approaching, and it has gotten a streaming update! According to Variety, Amazon Prime Video has picked up the series for Ireland and the U.K. Cooking-themed basic cable channel Food Network will be broadcasting Wizards of Baking in the U.S. If you don’t live in the areas where the competition will be available on Prime Video, or you don’t have cable, the series will also be available to stream on Max starting November 14, with episodes releasing weekly.
While a Max release date is confirmed, the platform isn’t available in the U.K.; normally, this sort of content would be put on the platform Now, but a release date is unconfirmed. Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company that owns the rights to Harry Potter content, has a streaming deal with Sky, the owner of Now, that expires in 2025. WBD is attempting to make Max available in the U.K., and the future of the company’s deal with Sky is unconfirmed. More tension is also building following the lawsuit Sky filed at the end of September, alleging a breach in their co-production agreement after WBD refused to share rights to the upcoming HBO Harry Potter reboot series. WBD is moving forward with the plans for Wizards of Baking, potentially jacking the tensions higher.
