Ubisoft Job Listing Hints At Open-World Vehicle Gameplay In ‘Star Wars’ Game
Have you ever wanted to work for a video game company? Have you ever wanted to work on something to do with Star Wars? What about a video game company that makes Star Wars games? Jackpot. The video game company Ubisoft recently posted an interesting job listing that may actually be more than just a job making regular old Star Wars video games. It may be something else entirely.
The particular job listing hints that Ubisoft has some interesting and new ideas that they are trying to make come to life, more specifically in the upcoming Star Wars game that they are making. This game could allow players to pilot classic vehicles from the Star Wars franchise and, of course, a few new ones as well. This major hint about what the game is going to have in it has fans excited for what is to come in the Ubisoft Star Wars game.

Back in January of 2021, Ubisoft announced that along with The Division developer Massive Entertainment, they would be working on a story driven open-world Star Wars game. This video game is monumental in that it is part of Disney and Lucasfilm’s new initiative to expand the franchise’s video game division. And by that, they will really focus on Star Wars games more than in the past and bring new stories and gameplay to the front.
Disney has chosen Ubisoft as the developer for this game because Ubisoft has experience with open-world games. Ubisoft has recently worked on another open-world game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Disney and Ubisoft started talking in 2019 about making a partnership to create a new and exciting open-world Star Wars game. As Ubisoft has yet to release any sort of details about the upcoming Star Wars game, fans have no idea what to expect. Thus, they have taken to speculation all over the internet. Fans are curious as to which distinct era the game will be set in or what features the game might have that are already in the amazing Ubisoft game titles such as Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. What we do know though is that while the project still has quite a lot disclose about what it is going to be about, Ubisoft will definitely utilize the Snowdrop Engine from The Division 2 to bring their version of the Star Wars galaxy to life.
Game Rant reported a few days ago that Ubisoft Bucharest, which is one of the studios helping Ubisoft in their creation of this open-world Star Wars game, posted a job listing for Senior Vehicle Artist on the Ubisoft website. The listing itself gives us some hints of what we might expect in the video game. It mentions: “both authentic and fictional vehicles” which seems to suggest that we will see some brand new vehicles along with the traditional space fighters and land-based hovercrafts, to name a few. The Senior Vehicle Artist will be tasked with researching the particular and specific vehicles to make sure that they remain authentic to the Star Wars lore. The other part of the job is managing the development team’s work in implementing the designs in the game. From the job listing, it seems to suggest that ships will definitely be a key part of the video game, as the posting specifically calls for people with experience in crafting highly realistic vehicles. This could mean potentially that the vehicles could be used for aerial combat, races, or travel, and are probably key components to the game.
Of course, the Star Wars universe is home to iconic vehicles such as the Rebel Alliance X-wing and Y-wing starfighters, the Razor Crest, the iconic Millennium Falcon, TIE fighters, and Luke’s landspeeder and swoop bikes. These are just a few spacecrafts and ground transportation we might see. There are just too many to list. Ubisoft did not mention in the job description what vehicles will be featured or available in the gameplay. The idea that ships will be in the game is already an extremely exciting prospect for a Star Wars gamer. The chance to pilot different ships in a Star Wars video game? Yes, please!
Besides Ubisoft’s game, there are other companies that are producing or have produced some stellar Star Wars games in the past few years. Longtime Star Wars PC port developer Aspyr has been working on the long anticipated remake of the beloved game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. EA is still in the midst of creating titles such as the highly discussed and anticipated sequel to the 2019 hit Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. During The Game Awards 2021 livestream last week, Quantic Dream announced Star Wars Eclipse, which seems to be a darker take on the franchise set way in the past of the long ago era of the High Republic. Where Ubisoft’s game will fit in to the timeline remains to be seen. Although, some fans are hoping that it will be a different era altogether from the games that we currently have.
With this job posting, Ubisoft will perhaps slowly let fans in on more details about this game. On the other hand, if they are still posting jobs for the production of the game, we might still have a while before we learn much about it. Hopefully, they don’t make us wait too long!
