'Good Omens' Looks Set For A Season 3 Renewal From Prime Video With A Different Showrunner
People love to see good things continue. It helps us feel good, especially in troubling times. Good Omens is the adaptation of the novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. What was surprising was learning that there would be a sequel to a book that did not have a sequel. Fears of what that season would look like were assuaged by Gaiman himself being involved in the writing and production.
Now, it looks like there will be a season three.
When season two was released back in August, it was well-met and well-reviewed. As to questions about a third season, Gaiman replied to someone on X that it’s plotted out, but the WGA strike (which was still going on) prevented him from writing it in solidarity. He did add further that there will not be a season four, so this will be it.
What could season three possibly be about for a book that was concluded in season one? Well, according to Gaiman, he and Pratchett had an unfinished sequel to the novel, and season three will draw from that.

The news about a third season is met with the departure of the first two seasons’ show-runner, Douglas Mackinnon. He posted about it on Instagram, responding to a challenge for SAG-AFTRA professionals to show their work. Fans noticed the set picture, and his response to a comment was that he is no longer involved with the show. Neil Gaiman confirmed this when he reportedly said that Mackinnnon moved on to other things.
Seasons one and two of Good Omens are available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video.
