This year, Doctor Who, the British-based sci-fi icon is celebrating its 60th anniversary. Fans of the show have expressed their excitement with loads of new announcements since the end of the 13th Doctor’s regeneration to fan favourite and 10th incarnation of the character, David Tennant, came back to be the 14th Doctor which sounds confusing to newbies to the show but trust me when I say stay with me here. To celebrate, BBC announced an international rights distribution deal with Disney+ and returning showrunner, Russell T Davies, has said they will have an expanded budget and a drive to build a “Whoniverse” with a couple of spin-offs announced.

When a show announces something big as being 60 years old, we need to celebrate in a big way. In addition to the return of David Tennant, his long-term companion Donna Noble played by Catherine Tate is also scheduled to return. Including the 10th Doctor's companion, many characters from his time on the show will also be making a return including the return of the doctor’s daughter, Jenny, played by Georgia Tennant who is also David Tennant’s real-life wife. For those trying to find some clarity, in an episode, the Doctor was on a planet and his DNA was stolen and used to create a female version of himself thus bringing us Jenny. Fans of the show have always wondered what happened to Jenny as last we saw she decided to forge her own path instead of staying with the Doctor as his companion.

Included in the reunion will be a return of all the still living actors who played the Doctor including my personal favourite, Tom Baker.  But like all BBC shows, expect a slow release of episodes beginning in mid to late 2023 and finishing in 2024 with the regeneration of Tennat’s Doctor to new actor Ncuti Gatwa.
