Gamescom Gets An Unexpected Guest: Nintendo To Make Rare Appearance
In a slightly unexpected turn of events, Nintendo announced that they will be appearing at this year's Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. The video game giant has previously preferred announcing their titles through their Nintendo Directs and has not done a public presentation since 2012's E3, preferring instead to present their upcoming titles through their immensely popular Nintendo Directs. The event follows the launch of Pikmin 4 on July 21st, so there may be something even bigger announced at the event.
Nintendo previously pulled out of E3 earlier this year, with Sony and Microsoft following suit before the event was canceled outright. Having Nintendo be one of the early confirmed exhibitors at Gamescom is a huge win for the European gaming convention. The event will run from August 23rd to 27th. Furthermore, Opening Night Live will be returning to present various premieres from the exhibitors at the event, and though there is no official word on what Nintendo will be showcasing on that particular livestream if anything at all, it can be safe to assume that the video game giant will have some sort of presence on the stream.
