Force Dyad Explained
In The Rise of Skywalker, we were introduced to the idea of a dyad in the Force in the form of Kylo Ren and Rey. It is revealed in this movie that the reason they have such a strong connection to each other through the Force is that they are a dyad in the Force, but what does that really mean? Well, in the movie, we aren't really told much outside of the fact it gives them a connection and makes them powerful.
I'm going to look at this in a bit more detail here and try to explain the ins and outs of what exactly a dyad in the Force is. Throughout the sequel trilogy, we see on more than a couple of occasions that Rey and Kylo Ren share some sort of connection in the Force. It is something that we have never really seen before, as they appear to be able to talk face to face through nothing but the Force, and even get a sense of each other's surroundings. Now, onscreen, we have never seen anything quite like this before, at least not to this extent.

A dyad in the Force is when two Force-sensitive beings share a unique connection in the Force that bonds their minds across space and time. While, physically, they are two separate individuals, as far as the Force is concerned, they are one which made it possible for the bonded individuals to communicate with each other across vast distances.
This is such a rare occurrence within the Force that even Darth Sidious was unaware of its existence until he siphoned a fraction of Rey and Ben Solo's bond, Supreme Leader Snoke was aware that Kylo Ren had an equal on the light side of the Force, but he wrongly predicted that this would be his Uncle Luke Skywalker. Little did he know that it would be Rey, a young scavenger from a deserted planet called Jakku.
So what exactly is a dyad in the Force capable of? We already know it enables bonded individuals to communicate across space and time, but what else is possible? Well, as we see in The Rise of Skywalker, both Rey and Ben possess the ability to use Force heal, which was a point of contention for fans as it seemed to open up the plot hole of why no one else had used it. Well, it seems like it could be unique to this Force dyad. Then again, we saw Grogu use Force heal in The Mandalorian. However, a dyad in the Force are able to pass objects to each other through the Force, as we have seen in the climax of Episode IX.
It also meant that when they fought side by side, they became more powerful, and they could mirror each others movements and abilities whilst amplifying them, this made a Force dyad extremely powerful, and a force to be reckoned with.
So there you have it, a dyad in the Force is an extremely rare occurrence that grants the bonded pair a higher level of Force powers and explains why Ben and Rey seemed so powerful in comparison to what we have seen before.
