With Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny coming on June 30, a new film makes ample opportunity for new toys. And Hasbro knows it. It sounds like they’re prepared too because, on Thursday, the toy company announced the first Hasbro Pulse fanstream for the franchise, which is happening on Wednesday, January 11 at 11 AM Eastern, which is the typical time for these fanstreams.

Sure, there’d be collectors figures over the years, but the original Star Wars line by Kenner was discontinued by mid-1985, just two years after Return of the Jedi. Similarly, 15 years after Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, there’d be less demand. This period of dormancy included YouTube’s broader rise, increased livestream features, and the inception of Hasbro Pulse, so there wasn’t enough product to justify dedicated reveal streams like this. There have been for such franchises as Power Rangers and Transformers. It’s never been like “Oh, this is the first era of Hasbro having the toy rights!”. Like Star Wars, Kenner had Indiana Jones, and thus it followed the same journey to Hasbro’s jurisdiction, as they closed Kenner in 2000. Their line for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull spanned all four films to that point. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has been delayed nearly four years so who knows how that affected toy production and how long they’ve been held? Now the toys can be ready for a full exhibition, and it’s probably long overdue.
