First Trailer Released For 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' Series On Disney+

In the words of Darth Vader; "(We've) been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again at last." With just two short months left until the premier of Obi-Wan Kenobi, we finally have a trailer! The exciting and cinematic trailer will certainly escalate the hype for this already highly anticipated series. The Star Wars fandom has blown away by this trailer, with numerous different sites and channels already posting reactions, breakdowns, discussions, and everything in between, everyone excited to talk about the first teaser trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The new series, fittingly releasing on the 45th anniversary of the original premier of Star Wars, May 25th, is set 10 years after the fall of the Republic and Order 66. From the first words spoken in the trailer, we can tell that Obi-Wan is not taking the fall of the Republic very well, understandably so. In hiding on Tatooine, Kenobi has one job; keep Luke Skywalker safe from the ever growing might of the Empire. The trailer has confirmed several fan theories, sparked even more new ones, and is the perfect appetizer for the long awaited series.

It's hard to even describe the hype that this trailer brings to the fanbase in regards to the fresh series. Obi-Wan Kenobi is an indescribably important character, not only to the story, but to the fan base as well. Now he has finally been given the opportunity to carry a show, an opportunity that is long overdue.

The trailer is a enough to excite any Star Wars fan with the use of the iconic John Williams score, "Duel of the Fates." The choice of music, when paired with the view of the Lars homestead and a young Luke Skywalker enjoying his childhood, hopefully demonstrates what this show will be at its best; a melding of the best of the prequel trilogy, including Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan, with the humanity and magic of the original 1977 Star Wars.

The trailer gives us our first look at the live action Inquisitors presumably tasked with hunting Kenobi, including the Grand Inquisitor, first seen in Star Wars Rebels. The Grand Inquisitor also serves as the primary narrator of the trailer, setting the audience up for the relentless pursuit that the Imperial Inquisitor represents to Jedi exiles. In addition to the Inquisitors themselves, we also see Fortress Inquisitorius, the submerged base of Vader's Jedi hunters. First seen in Fallen Order, the base has multiple similarities to the level seen in-game. We also briefly see the Fifth Brother, presumably portrayed by Sung Kang, another Star Wars Rebels antagonist, and the newly introduced member of the Inquisitorius, Reva, played by Moses Ingram, who seems to be taking on the role of "big bad" for the show.

There is no doubt that Obi-Wan Kenobi is the most anticipated new Star Wars series of the year for many fans, and more than one individual has May 25th circled on their calendar. We here at Culture Slate are as excited as the rest of the fandom and will be watching, reporting on, and discussing Kenobi with great interest.
