Ezra Miller May Keep Their Role As The Flash Amid The Changing DC Cinematic Landscape
DC Studios remains in the headlines due to the number of casting and production shakeups from James Gunn and Peter Safran’s takeover of DC Studios. From Henry Cavill’s removal from the role of Superman, Wonder Woman 3 put on ice, and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s poor performing Black Adam film, Variety reports Ezra Miller may remain in the role of the Flash.
Ezra Miller is undergoing mental health treatment after several arrests and criminal charges against the actor last year. Miller was accused of throwing a chair at a woman, grooming minors, and other misconduct. The actor was charged with felony burglary in Vermont, to which Miller pleaded not guilty. The case’s next hearing is on January 13.
These incidents fueled speculation Warner Bros. would remove the role from Miller. However, the actor’s efforts to clean up are making an impact on DC executives. In August, Miller apologized to executives for recent behavioral issues to save the film and participated in reshoots in October.
Andy Muschietti will direct The Flash with a script by Christina Hodson, who wrote Birds of Prey. The story will follow the Flashpoint comic run, where Barry Allen navigates another DC universe. Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck will be Batman's versions of Batman. The Flash will open in theatres on June 16, 2023, with a sequel penned by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick already completed.
The Flash will release on June 16, 2023.
