Everything From The Marvel Studios Animation Panel At San Diego Comic-Con Day Two

Marvel Studios Animation

It is convention weekend once again. It is not just any convention, but San Diego Comic-Con! Anytime a big con like this comes around, a boatload of news comes with it. The Marvel Studios Animation Panel had a stacked lineup, including Marvel Studios’ head of streaming television and animation Brad Winderbaum, and head of visual development Ryan Meinerding, among several executive producers and writers.

Spider-Man Freshman Year

First on our list of announcements is an interesting prequel series that might answer some burning questions to come in 2024. Spider-Man: Freshman Year will follow Peter Parker before we meet him in Captain America: Civil War, leading up to him becoming the Spider-Man we are familiar with. The style of the series will be a throwback to the original comics. The ninth grade will not be the only year we see as the panel also announced Spider-Man: Sophomore Year.

What If...?

Next, we got a confirmation on What If…?  Season 2, which is set to release in 2023. Uatu The Watcher will also be involved in the upcoming season. A third season is on the horizon as well, going further than anything we have seen so far.

Thanks to What If…? another series is coming as well. Marvel Zombies is a direct spinoff from What If…? Season 1 focusing on a new generation of heroes fighting off a zombie apocalypse before it can end the world.

X-Men '97

The classic X-Men tune every fan and cartoon fanatic can recognize returns. X-Men ‘97 is hitting Disney+ in the Fall of 2023. That’s right, Marvel is not just making a new movie, but a show as well. It will put the spotlight on other characters during the original cartoon’s timeline while still featuring the classic ones. Season 2 of the series will also be coming.

I Am Groot

Last, but not least I Am Groot is slated to hit Disney+ on August 10th. The show will follow Baby Groot as he grows up.

There is a lot of Marvel content to look forward to. Hopefully, there will be even more news and sneak peeks to come.
