An unintentional reveal has happened for Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion, outing the character that Emilia Clarke is to play.

When the trailer for the new Marvel Studios series was released, Emilia Clarke was nowhere to be found. While the trailer hasn’t shown her, there is footage from an official account that does, in the form of a GIF. Tenor is a database for GIFs that easily allows people to search for and post them to numerous social media platforms. Companies use this as a marketing tool, knowing the popularity of GIFs for people to express themselves.

Marvel has created an account on the platform for the series, with numerous reaction GIFs available for people to use. One of those shows Emilia Clarke as Abigail Brand, the commanding officer of S.W.O.R.D., saying, “It’s the beginning.” S.W.O.R.D. is an offshoot of S.H.I.E.L.D., dealing with the defense of Earth against extra-terrestrial threats.

The threat that will be dealt with in this series is the Skrulls, shapeshifting aliens who have infiltrated all aspects of life on Earth. Featuring Nick Fury, Secret Invasion is set to explore the character’s past and future as he works with Skrull Talos to stop the rebel faction of Skrulls from completing their invasion of Earth. The series is set to release in early 2023 on Disney+.
