'Ed, Edd, N Eddy' And 'Dexter's Laboratory' Arrive On Prime Video With More Content Than HBO Max Ever Had
At the beginning of December, it was reported that Warner Bros. would be licensing out its animated DC content to Amazon Prime Video. Such a deal certainly aligned with David Zaslav’s belief there was more money to be made that way (or to any other streamer) than holding it in-house. And indeed, that started with Teen Titans and Justice League Action, but as it turns out, it may very well extend beyond not just DC, but the Warner Bros. label, as two Cartoon Network classics have also joined the fray.
Dexter’s Laboratory and Ed, Edd n Eddy are streaming now on Prime Video, as of December 30. Every episode. They’re still on HBO Max too, sure, having arrived there in May 2020 and January 2021, respectively. However, on Prime Video, it’s very complete. On HBO Max, some of the TV movies like Codename Kids Next Door’s “Operation Z.E.R.O.” and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends’s “Destination Imagination” are listed separately from the series itself, to probably match digital marketplaces like iTunes or Amazon.

These two series also had TV movies, with the Eds having holiday specials as well. These productions, Dexter’s Laboratory: Ego Trip, "Ed, Edd n Eddy's Jingle Jingle Jangle" "Ed, Edd n Eddy's Hanky Panky Hullabaloo" and "Ed, Edd n Eddy's Boo Haw Haw" and Ed, Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show, were not only missing from HBO Max but had not been available at all for digital purchase. Ego Trip hadn’t had a domestic home media release since the VHS era in which it debuted. In October, the Eds received what was touted as a complete series DVD release. However, the holiday specials and Big Picture Show were missing, leading to much derision from fans.
Classic Cartoon Network shows like these being made available on Prime Video as some broader part of the previously mentioned deal could signal some major answers to questions about missing content. It’s possible that Cartoon Network shows that were victims of August’s purge like Infinity Train, Close Enough, and Victor and Valentino can find their way to Prime as well. That could even be the case for the projects in development that also lost HBO Max as a home.
