Early Box Office Tracking Indicates That 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' Will Have A Massive Opening Weekend
Fans of all things Marvel have been eagerly anticipating a chance to return to Wakanda for quite some time and come November 11, 2022, with its theatrical release enthusiasts of this franchise will have that chance. Current tracking indicates that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will have a blockbuster opening weekend, already estimating $175 million. If the tracking proves to be accurate, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be the second-highest debut of the year, following Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Neither Marvel nor Disney have even come close to their budget for marketing, which means as we near the date and the marketing efforts blow up, ticket sales are likely to escalate even further than currently expected. This is good news not only for Disney, Marvel Studios, and the fanbase but also for the cinema industry at large as many theaters have struggled since COVID and this may help to bring them back to the map.
Variety reports that Ryan Coogler will return to the director’s chair. Top cast credits are to include Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Michaela Coel, and Angela Bassett. All signs are pointing to this film being a well-received success as well as a chance to honor the late Chadwick Boseman and his title character, King T’Challa. The film will acknowledge the death of T’Challa and will show the grieving process of his family and subjects as well as introduce a new threat for them to deal with – an ancient civilization from the sea, a kingdom known as Talocan. The Motion Picture Association echoes the information provided by Variety and mentions that not only are the numbers present but the few who have preliminarily seen the movie are reporting that this sequel is everything that it promises to be.
There will be new faces to meet in this latest installment of Black Panther which has fans excited as well. Among those new faces will be Dominique Thorne who will portray Riri Williams AKA Ironheart. Entertainment Weekly notes that she will team up with Shuri, showcasing strong, independent, scientifically minded black women in leadership roles, adding more to the overall beauty that the film promises to be.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set for release on November 11, 2022.
