After a long time without any official visuals or an official title, Bit Reactor’s mysterious Star Wars game has gotten a teaser before more information is set to be released at the company’s hour-long Celebration panel all about: Star Wars Zero Company.
The game, which looks likely to be at least partially set during the Clone Wars due to elements of the teaser image, is described as a single-player turn-based tactics game. It was developed in a partnership between Bit Reactor, Respawn and Lucasfilm Games. Bit Reactor is notable as a relatively new studio founded by veterans of several big games or gaming franchises like the XCOM series.
The teaser image, meanwhile, is incredibly illuminating despite the small cast it reveals. According to StarWars.com, this group of six is not all of the members of a player’s team, suggesting more faces to be revealed during the Celebration presentation. Next, it is important to note the group’s diversity of characters. We have a Jedi, a Clone Trooper, a Mandalorian, and an astromech, alongside an Umbaran and a human male. The Jedi stands out as a member of the Tognath species familiar to fans of the franchise through the characters Benthic “Two Tubes” and Edrio from Rogue One, Solo, and recently, both seasons of Andor.

The Umbaran is also interesting for a team that seems likely to be pro-Republic, as Umbara switched loyalties during the Clone Wars though it is always important to note no species is a monoculture. There could be some very interesting storytelling attached to this character depending on the timespan this game covers. The Mandalorian is actually not too surprising given we know some Mandalorians both remained warriors and joined the Republic Military during the war, with Fen Rau as the most obvious example.
We would expect there to be further diverse team members in the likely-named Zero Company that players will take control of. We couldn’t even begin to guess what we might see, but some personal favorite ideas would be a Zabrak, a combat droid, and some short cute alien who is also a total badass. We’ll have to wait until Saturday afternoon this coming weekend to learn more!
