Disney Releases New Casting Choices For 'The Spiderwick Chronicles' Adaptation
Good news has come about The Spiderwick Chronicles series being developed by Disney+. Cast members have been revealed! The series was first announced on November 12, 2021, so the news is very welcome. This is exciting because not only does it help people visualize the characters further, but it also indicates when more news may come.
Christian Slater, known for his role as J.D. in the 1988 movie-musical Heathers among others, is entering the antagonist role once again. Slater has been cast as Dr. Dorian Brauer, also known as Mulgarath. The character is an ogre who is insatiable, trying to steal the Field Guide for power and advantage.
The main characters in this adaptation, fraternal twins have also been cast. Noah Cottrell, known for playing Henry from Skyscraper (2018), and Lyon Daniels, the star of We Can Be Heroes (2020), will be playing Simon and Jared Grace, respectively. The twins live with their mother and older sister Mallory, who have yet to be cast.
The Spiderwick Chronicles originated as a book series centered around 3 children who move into their ancestral home. While looking around the house, they find their great-great-uncle Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide. This thrusts them into the Invisible World, taking the children on an adventure to defend this Guide from Mulgarath. It’s not the only book-based series coming to the platform, too. With Disney+ Day fast approaching, we’ll see if any more news comes out.
