Disney recently announced their slate of upcoming films for the next two years, leaning heavily on sequels to some of their most tried and true successful franchises, including the Toy Story franchise, Tron, and Moana, with sequels to other popular movies such as Frozen and Zootopia in the works as well. Toy Story 5 has been announced for June 2026 and will again star Tom Hanks and Tim Allen as Woody and Buzz Lightyear, respectively. Jared Leto will appear in the next Tron Film following 2010’s Tron Legacy, entitled Tron: Ares, debuting in October 2025. The next Moana animated film, Moana 2, will debut later this year in November, with The Rock’s live-action Moana film pushed back to 2026 to give the animated sequel some time to “breathe."

Disney is also hoping to successfully bring Star Wars back to the big screen following the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga, as well as several failed attempts to bring Star Wars back to the big screen in recent years. Star Wars fans eagerly awaiting the franchise's return to the big screen since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker will finally get their wish with The Mandalorian & Grogu, slated for May 2026. The film spins off from the hugely successful D+ Star Wars series, The Mandalorian. The film will be directed by Jon Favreau and stars Pedro Pascal reprising his role as the titular Mandalorian.
