Amazon’s The Rings of Power Season 2 has been in production for a few months now with more casting news coming out frequently, which is making fans even more excited for Season 2. Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay have said that this Season will be even closer to source material and draw on it a lot more. New photos taken from a fan indicate that some of this will be giving fans even more visuals of Middle-earth when introducing new places we’ve never seen before.

A fan stumbled across a “huge number of film company trucks, camera crew, definitely a huge production” in Tenerife Island (part of the Canary Islands, Spain) while driving through El Teide national park. They were able to slowly drive by and noticed that there was a small group of people with one of the dressed in ‘fish nets, gray hair, over shoulder back [bag].”

Suspiciously looking like The Stranger in The Rings of Power. Reddit, where they posted this, came through and found an article from Tenerife Weekly which confirms that The Rings of Power is indeed filming there at the moment. They cited that this has been confirmed by DIARIO DE AVISOS. This is the first indication that the series is filming anywhere other than the UK where they moved production after being in New Zealand for the first season.

What this means for what locations we might see in the coming season remains to be seen since it begs the question: will we see all new places this season? Fans on the Reddit thread and on TheOneRing.net’s Facebook post about this are speculating that El Teide national park could be the location of Rhûn which is where The Stranger was headed at the end of the season. Since the xMort, the original poster, did see The Stranger, this seems like a logical explanation. Fellowship of Fans posted photos that someone took of Daniel Weyman on set as well.

TheOneRing.net posted some pictures of the landscape. And on their Facebook page, they also have a drive by video that was recorded of the film crew in the comments of their post.

El Teide itself is a beautiful national park, and whatever the location in Middle-earth they use it for, it will definitely make for a breath-taking landscape and add to the already rich visuals that they have been using thus far.
