"Kill her, mommy. Kill her!” The original Friday the 13th villain is back, and we don’t mean Jason. Actress Linda Cardellini has been cast as Pamela Voorhees in the prequel series Crystal Lake. The actual villain of the first Friday the 13th movie, Pamela Voorhees was driven mad by the death of her son, Jason, and went on a murder spree at Camp Crystal Lake. Originally played by Betsy Palmer, other actresses include Nana Visitor and Paula Shaw. Pamela Voorhees was a unique villain in a horror sub-genre dominated by men, such as Jason himself.
Crystal Lake is an upcoming horror series from Peacock and A24. The show is being executive produced by Victor Miller, who wrote the original movie, along with Marc Toberoff and Rob Barsamian. Bryan Fuller has been established as a writer and showrunner for the project. That’s as far as we know about the production. This casting news confirms speculation that Crystal Lake would be focusing on her early days. This will take place sometime in the 50s and may include Jason’s mysterious drowning, her first murders, and maybe even details about her backstory. It is not known when Crystal Lake will even begin production, but we’ll be sure to give our readers any updates about this project as it unfolds.
